Alexander Jamie came from Montrose. He enlisted into the 2nd Battalion Black Watch in 1895. He went to South Africa with the 1st Battalion and served in the Mounted Infantry. Only 21 other ranks from the 1st Battalion received the Cape Colony clasp; all with the M.I.
