Stanley Gladstone was born in and enlisted at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Serving with the 16th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 1 July 1916, the first day of the battle of the Somme. He was buried in the Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuile.

Robert Watson Gladstone was born in and enlisted at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Serving with the 27th Battalion (Tyneside Irish) Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 23 October 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
