Herbert James Paton Edgar attested into the Territorial Force as a Private in the 3/9th Reserve Battalion Royal Scots on 15 October 1915. He entered France in April 1916. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on 8 January 1917. Edgar was posted to serve with the 3/2nd King’s African Rifles, April 1917-April 1918. He returned to England in October 1918 and was ‘gazetted out of service’ effective 11 June 1919. With copied m.i.c.
