James Riley was born in Crosshill, Ayrshire, lived in Prestwick and enlisted at Ayr. As a Private in the 7th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 10 July 1915. He was killed in action on 15 August 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. With copied m.i.c. and casualty details.
