James Robert Sissons was born in and enlisted at York and came from Hungate. Serving with the 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment he gained the Military Medal. As a Lance-Corporal in the battalion he died of wounds on 10 October 1918. He was buried in the Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
