Alfred Ison attested for the 47th Foot at Cambridge in June 1848 and served as servant to Captain Henry Meade Hamilton, 47th Foot and a Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General, during the Crimean War. Ison was sent Sick to Scutari on 22 December 1854, and died at Scutari on 2 February 1855.
