London Gazette 10 May 1945: ‘In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in the field.’ One of some 100 awards for those involved in counter insurgency operations in Greece in December 1944 and January 1945, particularly in Athens on 3 December 1944, when 28 civilians were killed and hundreds injured by police and British troops.
