56th (West Essex) Regiment a very rare 18th century powder horn the ox horn(?) with incised designs ‘56’ within a laurel wreath over ‘S Hested’, the latter possibly replacing the name of an earlier owner, the large end fitted with wooden plug and a raised knop at the narrow end, very good condition £650-700
