1914-15 Star (Spr. W. H. W. Prentice S.A.F.T. & P.C.); British War and Bilingual Victory Medals (Spr. W. H. W. Prentice. S.A.F.T. & P.C.) very fine and better, scarce to unit (3) £70-£90

The South African Field Telegraph and Postal Corps was established in the early stages of the Great War using telegraph lines and equipment taken over from departing British troops and utilising the expertise of the Natal Engineer Corps which was formed in 1910. Initially compiled of 300 men, many of whom worked in civilian life for the Natal Telegraph Company, the unit made an important contribution to all lines of advance into German South West Africa.
