Charles Augustus Moyle joined the Bombay Establishment as an Ensign on 22 December 1839 and was promoted to Lieutenant in the 21st Bombay N.I. in November 1841. He served with the field forces in Sind and Affghanistan from 1840 to 1843, and was present at the battle of Hyderabad (Medal); also with the force under Sir Charles Napier in pursuit of Meer Sheer Mahomed, and at the capture of the fort at Oomercote. He was later a Colonel and Commandant of the 28th Bombay Native Infantry. Colonel Moyle died during 1878. His memoirs are held amongst the archives of the National Army Museum, Chelsea.
