Three: Private J. J. Ford, Kimberley Volunteer Regiment

Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Relief of Mafeking, Defence of Kimberley, Orange Free State (1188 Pte., Kimberley V.R.); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (1188 Pte., Kimb. Vol. Regt.); Mayor of Kimberley’s Star 1899-1900, reverse hallmark with date letter ‘a’, lacks brooch bar, nearly extremely fine (3) £400-500

J. J. Ford was enrolled into the Kimberley and Beaconsfield Town Guard on 10 October 1899 and was discharged as a consequence of the disbandment of the Town Guard on 1 March 1900. On 7 March he enrolled in the Kimberley Regiment and served with them and thence the Kimberley Regiment of Volunteers until 30 June 1902 when he was discharged at his own request. Sold with original Kimberley and Beaconsfield Town Guard Discharge Certificate; Volunteer Discharge Certificate (2) from the Kimberley Regiment and the Kimberley Volunteer Regiment; plus Q.S.A. Medal forwarding slip (damaged) and envelope, the latter addressed to ‘Mr J. J. Ford, Main Road, Beaconsfield’. Also with copied confirmation of medals and clasps.
