William Edward Phythian was born in and enlisted at Manchester. Serving with the 11th Battalion Royal Scots he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 11 May 1915. He was killed in action on 27 September 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. He was the son of William and Harriett Eliza Phythian of 42 Cross Lane, Gorton, Manchester. Sold with copied research.
