Peter Cuthbert Welsh was born in Willington, Co. Durham, and living in Newburn-on-Tyne, enlisted at Houghton-le-Spring. Serving in the 10th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, he died in France/Flanders, on 19 June 1915, aged 30 years. The son of Thomas and Maria Welsh of Willington, he was buried in the Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France.
