Robert Gibson was born in Waringstown, Lurgan on 23 August 1898. A weaver by trade, he enlisted into the Royal Marines at Belfast on 31 August 1915. He served with the Plymouth Division R.M.L.I. throughout the war and was paid a war gratuity. He was discharged on the termination of his second period of engagement in August 1937. Re-mobilized in September 1938, he served throughout the Second World War, being released in September 1945. He died in January 1963. Sold with copied service papers which confirms the above medals.
