British War and Victory Medals (40322 Cpl., R.A.F.); together with memorial plaque (Oliver Holden Armitage) and Buckingham Palace letter, nearly extremely fine (3) £160-180
Oliver Holden Armitage was killed along with his pilot on 26 October 1918 whilst flying as an Observer in a DH9 aircraft on the Western Front, when his plane came down enroute from Floringhem to Ronchin. The research included with the lot does not identify whether this was as a result of enemy action or mechanical failure. He is buried at Cambrin Military Cemetery, France.
