A Second World War B.E.M. to Sergeant H. Faulkner, Royal Armoured Corps
British Empire Medal, (Military) G.VI.R., 1st issue (5492240 Sgt., R.A.C.), mounted as worn, nearly extremely fine £160-200

B.E.M. London Gazette 1 January 1945. ‘Sergeant (acting Warrant Officer Class II) (Staff Quarter-Master-Sergeant), Royal Armoured Corps’.

Recommendation states: ‘WS/SQMS, Harry Faulkner, Water Assault Wing, AT. & DG., Royal Armoured Corps’ ‘This N.C.O. joined for service in 1924, went to India in 1928, returned in 1932 and went on the reserve in the same year. Recalled to the colours in 1939 he went through France being evacuated at Dunkirk. Since joining this formation he has had very considerable responsibilities on his shoulders and for over a year has maintained a complex, shifting and growing unit entirely without the supervision of a Commissioned Quartermaster. The confidence and success with which this N.C.O. has handled this arduous work has made him invaluable to the unit and it is considered that his initiative and sense of responsibility have been well above the normal for his rank’.
