The mounted group of three miniature dress medals named to Lieutenant and Adjutant W. Gair, Carabineers, Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol, unnamed; Indian Mutiny 1857-58, no clasp, named ‘Lt. & Adj. W. Gair, Carabineers’; Turkish Crimea 1855, French/Sardinian issue, unnamed, mounted as worn, very fine (3) £120-160

William Gair was commissioned a Cornet in the 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabineers) in December 1857 and promoted to Lieutenant in 1859. He served with the Field Train Royal Artillery, as Deputy Assistant Commissioner during the Crimea War, serving at Bulganac and McKenzie’s Farm, Alma, Balaklava, Inkerman and the siege of Sebastopol. He served in the Indian Mutiny from June 1858. Gair was placed on Half Pay as Captain in August 1863. Mounted on a framed card providing service details.
