This medal commemorative the birth of Prince William of Orange, afterwards William V. The reigning Prince has already been married six years when the flrst son was at length granted to his prayers in 1748, exactly one hundred years after the Treaty of Westphalia, under the terms of which Spain acknowledged the independence and sovereignty of the States.
