CELEBRATING THE EXCEPTIONAL TALENTS OF BULGARI

Bulgari is a luxury brand that has its roots among Greek silversmiths – the family Voulgaris. Celebrating 140 years in business in 2024, the company built its sensational brand in the post-war years of Rome’s Dolce Vita, spreading internationally in the 1970s, with stores in Paris, Monte Carlo, Geneva and New York.

From its
en tremblant floral diamond brooches of the 1950s to its bold and chunky designs of the late 20th century, the desirability of Bulgari jewellery is ever on the rise as it launches new lines.

This Jewellery, Watches, Silver and Objects of Vertu auction offers a range of Bulgari highlights, illustrating not only the value that fine workmanship can command when coupled with precious materials, but also how accessible this leading brand can be to those with discernment.

Leading the selection is a gold and diamond necklace, circa 1975, the 42cm long tricoloured curb-link chain interspersed with brilliant-cut diamonds and signed ‘Bulgari N.Y’. Stamped ‘Made In Italy’ and ‘18K’, with Italian assay mark, it comes with its maker’s pouch, and has a total diamond weight of around 9.00 carats. The estimate is £10,000-15,000.

Parentesi is one Bulgari’s favourite collections, and this sale has two Parentesi lots. The first is a bangle and ring suite, the sprung cuff formed of interlocking fancy-shaped links, the ring en suite and both signed ‘Bulgari’. It should fetch £3,000-5,000.

The sale also includes an 18ct white gold diamond Parentesi ring, with maker’s box and an estimate of £600-800.

A Tubogas suite by Bulgari, comprising a stainless steel and diamond sprung torque bangle, an 18ct white gold and diamond swivel ring and a pair of 18ct white gold and diamond ear studs, all signed ‘BVLGARI’, has a price guide of £3,000-4,000.

A bold stainless steel and gold sprung bangle of ribbed design, signed ‘BVLGARI’, is expected to fetch £2,600-3,000.

An example of Bulgari’s ever popular Serpenti signature design is also included in the sale. A sapphire ‘Serpenti’ ring, of double coil serpent form, its head inset with a pear-cut sapphire, signed ‘BVLGARI’, and stamped ‘750’, carries an estimate of £1,500-2,000.
