Albert Edward Keller attested for the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force on 11 November 1916, and served with the 1st South African Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front from 7 May 1917. He was twice wounded- by shell shock on 22 October 1917, and gassed on 5 April 1918, and was killed in action at the Battle of Le Cateau on 16 October 1918. He is buried in Le Cateau Military Cemetery, France.
