Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (31216 Pte. C. Rush, 2/Essex R.); British War and Victory Medals (31216 A. Sjt. C. Rush, Essex R.); France, Third Republic, Croix de Guerre, reverse dated 1914-1918, with bronze palm, good very fine or better (4) £800-£1,000

D.C.M. London Gazette 26 November 1917:
‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as a stretcher-bearer after all the other bearers were out of action. He continued for 12 hours tending wounded without help in the open and placing them under cover. Later, he carried a badly wounded man in on his back, all under very heavy fire.’
