Horace Bisley, a native of Kilburn, Middlesex, attested for the Army Pay Corps and served as a Staff Sergeant with them in South Africa during the Boer War. He was discharged on 14 November 1902. Following the outbreak of the Great War he attested for the London Regiment, and served as a Lance-Corporal with the 9th Battalion (Queen Victoria’s Rifles) on the Western Front. He was killed in action on 12 May 1917, and is buried in Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France.

Mrs. Alice Mary Maud Bisley, the widow of Horace Bisley, was born in London on 11 November 1880, and attested for Queen Mary’s Army Auxiliary Corps on 16 July 1917. She served with them during the Great War from 14 August 1917, and was discharged on 21 October 1918.
