Naval General Service 1793-1840, 1 clasp, Guadaloupe (James Prio.) good very fine £800-£1,000
Provenance: Spink, September 2001.
James Prio served as an Able Seaman aboard H.M.S. Gloire at the capture of Guadaloupe in February 1810. A native of Suffolk, he entered the Navy as a Boy 3rd Class aboard the Glomen on 15 April 1809, aged 18 years. Just over three months later he removed to the Gloire and was discharged to the Namur in June 1812. Sold with some research.
