Lambton Allix Jones-Mortimer was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on 5 September 1896; Lieutenant, 4 May 1899; Captain, 3 February 1904. In 1906 he is shown as Aide de Camp to Lord Ampthill. He served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in 1897 with the Mohmand Field Force (Medal with clasp). He was twice mentioned in despatches during the Great War (London Gazette 19 October 1914 and 17 February 1915), and awarded the French Legion of Honour, 5th Class.
