Commander Henry Noel Shore, RN, Sth Baron Teignmouth (1847-1926). Educated Edinburgh Academy; HMS Britannia as naval cadet, 1861; served in several ships, Inspecting Officer of Coastguard, 1881-89; retired 1891. Shore studied art under Alphonse Legros at University College from 1879 to1880, and was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Irish Academy, and other galleries. His recreations were listed in Who's Who as painting, motoring and magic. He married Mary Aglionby, a descendant of Beilby Porteus (1731-1808), Bishop of London, after whom Christ's College, Cambridge, named their Porteus medal (BHM 632).
