Petty Officer Alfred Thomas Lamb was killed in action on 24 November 1941, when the light cruiser Dunedin was sunk by a German submarine in the South Atlantic. 26 officers, including Captain R. S. Lovatt, and 392 ratings were lost, while four officers and 63 ratings were subsequently picked up.
