One Pound, 2 January 1908, signature of G.H. Moritz, uniface, annotated 'First colour (Blue) Ptg correct 29/3/09’ in bottom left margin, various punch-holes (Douglas 31-3). Some damage at top edge, pinholes and paper residue on back of left edge, otherwise good very fine (£80-100)

In 1904 the contract for printing notes was awarded to Waterlow & Sons Ltd. This followed a series of internal problems within Perkins, Bacon & Co which had raised serious concerns about the continued printing and supply of banknotes. Due to the shortage of time available the basic frontal printing was retained although a fresh design for the backs was ready for the new issue in April 1905
