Samuel Nosworthy was born in about 1832. He served for many years in the Royal Marines and was present in the Crimea campaign. As a Sergeant in the 75th Company R.M.L.I. he was awarded the Royal Naval L.S. & G.C. in March 1872. In the reign of Edward VII, Nosworthy was awarded the Royal Marines Meritorious Service Medal and an Annuity of £10, the annuity starting from April 1907. He died at 4 Regent Cottages, Stonehouse, Devon, on 22 October 1913, aged 81 years. Sold with copied research, including extracts from The Times and The Globe and Laurel which list his awards.
