19th Century, London, Pennies, 1806 (2), and Halfpennies, 1806 (3), countermarked on reverses davis wine and brandy merchants 46 houndsditch (Scott 22.12A and B) [5] . Coins and countermarks generally only about fine, but one (1806 halfpenny) better with countermark bold (£20-30)
According to Davis “these countermarks were issued in the silver token period by Davis of the Falstaff Inn. There is a public house of that sign at Houndsditch at the present time.”
