WORLD ART MEDALS Peru, Paris “Tresors du Perou” Exposition, 1958, silver medal by Raymond Pelletier, crowded scene of Peruvian figures of historical importance, reverse French arms and legend, 70mm. Extremely fine and rare (£50-70)
Pelletier was the general engraver at the Lima Mint from 1951. He died in 1958. The medal was struck in Paris. It is possible it is presentation piece, though perhaps on sale at the exhibition as a commemorative. The event was obviously considered of some importance and was opened by the French and Peruvian Presidents.
