56th West Essex Regiment, a very scarce officer’s black patent leather pouch of large proportions bearing a small gilt badge, a QVC over an ovoid strap ‘WEST ESSEX’, and the numerals ‘56’ within, two screw fasteners to the reverse, complete with the white leather shoulder belt, this stamped with the officer’s name and regiment (Patrick Alexander Robertson, Ensign, 17 August 1852, Lieutenant 6 June 1854. Died c1859/60), this type of pouch appears in Fenton’s Crimean War photographs and was possibly used by Light Company officers c1855-1858, the orb and cross sections of the crown and the buckle tip are broken and missing from the badge (2) £60-100
