Colonel R. L. Walter was first employed with the Remounts and Bethunes Mounted Infantry; commanded 7th (Queen’s Own) Hussars 23 January to 31 May 1902 and during the Great War served initially with the Hampshire Yeomanry, later transferring back to the 7th Hussars.
