A Great War M.S.M. awarded to Captain J. J. Eadie, 10th Battalion Devonshire Regiment, latterly a Commandant of a Prisoner-of-War Camp

M.S.M. London Gazette 13 February 1917. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in the field during the present war.’

Serjeant James Jeffery Eadie, Devonshire Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 September 1915. Serving with the 10th Battalion he was awarded the M.S.M. Eadie was discharged to a commission with the Labour Corps on 23 February 1918. In April 1918 he was promoted to Acting Lieutenant as a Commandant of a prisoner-of-war camp and was then advanced to Temporary Captain in June 1918. He relinquished his temporary rank of Captain in November 1919 on ceasing to be employed as a Commandant of a P.O.W. camp and he relinquished his commission whilst retaining the rank of Captain on completion of his service in December 1920.
