Alexander Johnstone was born in Hythe, Kent on 28 March 1828. Served as an Able Seaman on H.M.S. Agamemnon, 22 October 1853-12 July 1856. Medal sent to him while serving on H.M.S. Wasp, May 1857. In 1860 he transferred to the Coast Guard. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
