John Ronald Mackintosh-Walker was born on 9 April 1898, the son of T. B. C. Walker, of Nairn, Scotland. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders on 7 April 1916. His service in the Great War earned him the M.C. and 2 Bars for bravery in the field. Served in pre-war Palestine as a Captain. Attained the rank of Brigadier in the Second World War, winning the D.S.O. Killed in action at the front near Caen, on 15 July 1944. Buried in the Hottot-les-Bagues War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
