Ernest Joseph Butcher was promoted to Colour Sergeant on 6 February 1902.
Ernest Cecil Butcher enlisted into the Royal Marines on 10 September 1915, receiving a commission in the same regiment on 17 November 1942. Sold with detailed service histories for both recipients.
