Robert Huggins was born in Thetford, Norfolk. A Shoeing Smith by occupation, he attested for short service with the Royal Artillery at London on 22 September 1900, aged 19 years, 4 months. With the 64th Battery R.F.A. he served in South Africa, October 1900-October 1901, being discharged, having completed his service, at Newport on 28 October 1901. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
