Samuel Sugden was born in Keighley, Yorkshire on 11 March 1863. He enlisted into the Royal Marine Light Infantry at Liverpool on 11 March 1881. Attained the rank of Sergeant in November 1890. Served in Egypt and awarded the medal with clasps for Alexandria, Suakin 1884 and El-Teb; with Khedive’s Star. Awarded the L.S. medal in 1891. With copied service paper.
