An unusual continental percussion target or gallery pistol retailed by Beckwith of London, with octagonal sighted barrel engraved with scrollwork at the muzzle and breech, engraved on the barrel-flat ‘Beckwith, London’ enclosed action with scroll engraved tang, figured walnut half-stock, fluted butt with engraved pommel cap and spurred trigger-guard, worn overall, hammer spur broken, tang chipped and trigger lacking £80-£100
Perhaps a conversion from the Flobert system.
William Andrew Beckwith is recorded at 58 Skinner Street, Snowhill from 1810-1861, by 1865 the business was owned by William and Henry Beckwith.
