Sold with several photographs, telegrams from the Governor General of New Zealand on the award of the Polar Medal, and various copied correspondence. Mr. Peter Alexander Yeates was a member of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition. He wintered over at Scott Base, as Radio Officer, in 1957/8 and again in 1959/60. He made a significant contribution to the Logistics Symposium by his paper on the operation and performance of the 557 sledge radios. The award of the Polar Medal was announced in the London Gazette of 24th November, 1969, and presented to Peter Yeates at Government House, Wellington, on 29th April, 1970. Approximately four clasps were issued with these dates.
