Reginald Wilkinson was born in Cambridge, England in Feburary, 1888. He emigrated to Australia after spending some time in Canada and enlisted at Adelaide on 12th August, 1915. He was promoted Sergeant in France on 8th August, 1916, and subsequently commissioned Lieutenant. The following citation for his M.C. was taken from official records: For conspicuous good service and devotion to duty. His energy has been largely responsible for the good work done by the Wireless Section under his command. During the German retreat from the Somme and Bullecourt operations last spring, did particularly good work, personally supervising the installation of listening sets in front line posts. His services during the whole period under consideration has been of great value. He has done very good work during recent operations.'
