NAVAL GENERAL SERVICE 1793-1840, 2 clasps, Algiers, Navarino (John Rowe) nearly extremely fine

Ex Eaton collection catalogue published 1880.

Confirmed on roll as ordinary Seaman aboard H.M.S. Mutine at Algiers, and A.B. aboard H.M.S. Talbot at Navarino.

Only 41 medals were issued with these two clasps.

John Rowe was an alias name for Jacob Eastrim who was born in Sweden. As Jacob Eastrim he had served in the Royal Navy from 1809 but was discharged from Tonnantin July 1815 with four other Scandinavians with the comment 'foreigner' against their names. He rejoined in November of that year as John Rowe and continued to serve until discharged and pensioned off from the Madegascar in 1835.
