Rifle Bde.) neat attempt to remove second ‘l’ of surname; India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, North West Frontier (1302 Pte. S. Algar, 3 Bn. Rif. Bde.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (1302 Pte. S. Alger, 3rd Rifle Bde.); Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, unnamed and fitted with Crimea suspension, some variation in spelling of surname, light contact marks to the first two, otherwise very fine and better (5)

4188 Private Samuel Algar, 2nd battalion, Rifle Brigade, was severely wounded, in the right forearm by grapeshot, at the first attack on the Redan, 18th June, 1855 (London Gazette 3rd & 9th July, 1855). Sold with copy discharge papers and other research.
