FRANCE, Les Potiers [Pottery Makers], 1915, a bronze plaque by P.-C. Lenoir, workers at the three stages of pottery-making shown as a triptych, reverse an old woman seated outside a building with pots for sale, 100 x 41mm (CGMP p.242; PBE 557; BDM VII, 549). About extremely fine, an attractive plaque (£30-50)
Forrer, writing just after the First World War, says of this piece: “The triptych of potters, representing the history of pottery as it is still practised in a little hamlet in Brittany called La Poterie, near Lamballe.”
