Military General Service 1793-1814, 1 clasp, Salamanca (A. F. Paxton, Lieut. 11th Dgns.) edge bruise to each rim, otherwise good very fine

Archibald Frederick Paxton was born in 1793, son of Sir William Paxton, Knt., of Middleton Hall, co. Carmarthen. He was educated at Harrow and joined the 11th Dragoons in June 1811, being promoted to Lieutenant in December of the same year. He served with his regiment in the Peninsula and was present at the battle of Salamanca. He retired on reserved half-pay on 23 July, 1817, and was later a Magistrate for Wiltshire, residing at Cholderton, near Salisbury.
