Vincent Mackesy, 63rd Foot) contemporary engraved naming, fitted with silver ribbon buckle and mounted on a Victorian velvet covered display stand within a magnificent silver oak wreath, hallmarked London 1871, with elaborate silver support arm to reverse, a most unusual and attractive contemporary display, good very fine £600-700
Lieutenant Vincent Mackesy proceeded with his regiment on board the Avon for service in the Crimea and fought with them at the battles of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkermann. He was subsequently sent for duty at Scutari and died there on the 7th March 1855.
