Recommendation reads: ‘For ten months H.M.S. Hotspur has escorted trans-atlantic convoys without missing a trip, sailing late or leaving early. This performance is in considerable part due to the training and example given to the engine-room department by Chief Stoker Laverick who has cheerfully and efficiently supervised the ratings under his control.’
