George William Reynolds was born at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire on 16 January 1917, and attested for the Royal Artillery at Liverpool on 23 April 1936. He served overseas in India from 5 October 1937 to 4 January 1944 before returning home and transferring to the Essex Regiment on 2 March 1945. Following further military training on the 2 inch mortar, Rifle Light Machine Gun (Bren), Sten Gun, 36 Grenades, and PIAT he deployed to North West Europe on 31 March 1945. he was discharged on 30 April 1946, after 10 years and 8 days’ service. He was subsequently employed by the Corps of Commissionaires, and died in October 2004.

Sold with the recipient’s Regular Army Certificate of Service Red Book; Soldier’s Service and Pay Book; National Registration Identity Card; Certificate of Transfer to the Reserve; and various other ephemera.

Arthur Samuel Dudley attested for the Essex Regiment on 10 December 1915 and served with the 5th Battalion during the Great War. He was discharged on 2 March 1919, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.
