Joseph Fuller served with the 40th Foot during the First Afghan War (entitled to Candahar, Ghuznee and Cabul Medal). After serving with the Regiment during the Gwalior Campaign, Fuller transferred to the 31st Foot in 1844. He served with the Regiment during the First Sikh War and was present at the Battles of Moodkee, 18 December 1845, and Ferozeshuhur, 21-22 December 1845, where the Regiment suffered 142 casualties. Fuller was amongst those severely wounded, and he died of his wounds 30 January 1846.
