Robert Keenan was born on 6 February 1918, and enlisted in the Royal Air Force on 15 March 1937. He served during the Second World War with No. 80 (Fighter) Squadron, and was awarded an Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief’s Commendation whilst serving with No. 43 Group. Advanced Warrant Officer on 1 April 1962, he was discharged on 6 February 1973, after 35 years and 329 days’ service.
